Competency for maintenance support equipment includes the assessment and validation of an individual’s skills and knowledge in operating various specialised machinery and equipment. This verification process ensures that the person has the necessary competency to perform tasks safely and efficiently in specific areas, such as confined spaces, overhead gantry crane handling, vehicle loading crane operation up to 10 tonne, integrated tool carrier operation, and the use of attachments, Integrated tool carrier and attachments.

Overhead Gantry Crane: This competency confirms that an individual can safely operate an overhead gantry crane, including knowledge of load limits, rigging techniques, control systems, and safe operating procedures. It ensures that the person can efficiently move heavy loads using this type of machinery.
Working at heights – This competency verifies that an individual has the required knowledge and skills to work safely at heights, including understanding the hazards, precautions, and emergency procedures associated with such environments.
Vehicle Loading Crane: This verification confirms that an individual has the necessary skills and knowledge to operate a vehicle loading crane, including load handling techniques, stability considerations, and safe operation practices. It ensures that the person can safely load and unload materials using this type of machinery.
Integrated Tool Carrier and Attachments (inc. Tyre Handler): This competency assesses an individual’s ability to operate an integrated tool carrier, which is a versatile machine used for various tasks, including material handling and attachment operations. It also includes the operation of attachments like tyre handlers (In conjunction with AURKTJ016), ensuring that the person can effectively and safely use these tools to perform specific tasks.
